So let's jump in time and talk about Berlin till the memories are fresh. So where should I start...
I begin with my flight. As there are no flights to Berlin directly from Bratislava, I had to fly from Vienna. Vienna, Berlin, Deutsch and Me. Who knows me better, than also knows we are not so good friends - me and the German language. All of my German friends hate me when I say it, but actually it sounds like Donald Duck speaking. Probably they will hate me more now as I posted about it :) But just think about it. Really sounds like that. :) So don't have to start to explain how embarrassing was to ask the stewardesses to repeat everything in English. Probably I was the only one on the plane who did not speak this Donald Duck language. But I don't complain because we got a little sweet heart-shaped AirBerlin chocolate when we landed (they totally bought me with this) and I also got the best seat on the way back (next to exit, with lot of place to my long legs).
Before you except something very touristic, I tell you this trip was much more about the parties than the sightseeing. Yeah, sorry for that, I didn't know it's going to end like this, but Berlin is really the capital of the REAL nightlife. When I say REAL I mean not the usual pop "La gente esta muy loca" songs. I took a look into a REAL UNDERGROUND music & life. I have to admit on the first night I was a bit afraid or surprised or just the feeling when you don't know what to expect. Just try to imagine a huuuuuge area with old abandoned buildings all painted with graffities, of course at night in the dark. Was a bit scary. When my friend took me there I was just too ...hm rather didn't say anything. :D I was just happy there is somebody next to me to save me :) hah (because for sure I would not be brave enough to walk there alone for the first time). So I just let myself to be surprised. Probably even my friend saw it on me, because he was ready to go after few minutes if I don't like it. Well, the club surprised me and I surprised the friend, because I loved it. We were dancing until the dawn - was a perfect beginning of the holiday. And the graffiti doesn't have to scary you, Berlin is full of graffities like that, colorfull, like it. Of course the days continued the same way. We visited some clubs in this area, and I just liked them every day better and better. While at "home" just get addicted to Paul Kalkbrenner's music. Yea, I liked him even before (also attended one concert in Hungrary festival), but c'mon it was Berlin and "dancy" electronic music every night, of course I was listening to him all the time. Actually it was thanks to the metro system. Did you see the movie Berlin calling (if not, you have to!) and do you remember the part when he played on the sound of the metro with his mobile and made a track from it? It was sooo funny to recognize and hear the same voice when the doors were closing. I'm still laughing when I think about it :) Ok, I know I look like a child. So I finish it and let's listen rather to the song together:
"Nächste stastion Alexanderplatz" :D I was there, I was there! :) If I want to be honest I was really afraid of taking metro alone. Needed to learn how to use it but it was easy, I was just confused from that Deutsche names, all the strasses sounded too German=incomprehensible for me. :D But at the end I was proud of myself. I was traveling alone. I felt like a BERLINER.
Ok, now serious. Of course I made some sightseeing. I love my camera and taking nice photos so I would never come back with an empty memory card. Berlin is very nice, pretty, colored and cool. I gave the subtitle of the album: what we don't have in Bratislava. Why? Because we don't and never will have places like that! The city if full of huge parks and chillin places. While we in Bratislava always have a problem where to go, in Berlin you can't choose between the parks (and the clubs of course). They are perfect places where to spend your sunny weekend afternoons with friends, live music, beers and bbq. I was most amazed with the "remade park - closed airport". When I went there for a walk to take some pictures, didn't wanted to go home. Just take a look at this, and you will understand:
Park & Market
Park from Airport
Probably I could continue the tale about the trip, but I finish it here. I really loved Berlin and it's a place where I'll return for sure. If I don't count this Donald Duck, it's perfect. :) But it was quite good, because almost everyone speaks English (after Spain and Italy it was a pleasure to talk in English finally). I need to mention my favourite conversation at a bar: he "wie geht's?" me confidently "danke gut" (this is all I know :D) he "sorry I don't speak German" me "hahaha, don't worry, me neither" :)
