The Malta Story - part II.

Going to Malta, staying in Malta, living in Malta was the best decision of my life. Few years before I would never do this step. Wasn't brave enough to step out the country. It was something... (uhm how to explain) ... something impossible, something unimaginable for me. But my life, even if I just gratuated at uni as an engineer, did not move in the right direction. So I said to myself: NEED CHANGE! That's the reason I got to this little island thanks to a friend S. I don't even know how... I just suddenly booked my flight (my first flight!) and was already there. Malta gave me a LOT. Lot of smiles, happiness, satisfaction, friendships and opportunities.
Here is THE STORY...
Before the flight I was a bit confused, nervous and excited. I was flying alone so I felt kinda lost in that big airport in Schwechat, Vienna. A kind mister let me sit on his seat next to the window and also started to chat with me. He was talking to me about the island, it was like a short introduction about Malta. I remember my English was sooo bad. In Slovakia usually you don't have chance to talk in this language and I didn't even have classes at school, so it was a perfect time to exercise. After I landed the taxi was already waiting for me, than just had to quickly change my clothes to swimming suit and was taken to visit the Blue Lagoon by boat. I think it was a perfect start of a long-lasting holiday :). The next days were similar. Boat trips and party boats with vodka, wine and champagne. Actually the "vodka, wine and champagne" combination was typical for the whole summer. Except Italian and Spanish tourists. They were drinking tequiiiila. But about this later.
Very quickly found a job, actually two jobs: street photographer and waitress. Both of them were very usefull. Even if the "waitressing" sounds very low, I really liked it (btw this was the first time I worked as a waitress :D).  Thanks to these jobs (or working places) I met hundreds of people. And that's exactly why I went to Malta :). I need to say a "special thank you" to one person, JS, because nothing from nothing just started to talk to me (even if I said doesn't need to entertain me, I'm ok) and thanks to him (even if he left the island soon) I met many nice and funny faces.
What about the nationality on the island? In Malta there are many GERMANS. Yes. And SWEDES. There are some Swedish companies and they are usually sending young people to work there. That's the reason of the Swedish guys as I found out. All of them are blond and have a typical Swedish hairstyle. You cannot mislead. But I still haven't figured out why are those Germans coming there :). But of course I have no problem with that. They speak really good English. I just hate them when they find each other and start this Donald Duck Language :). Of course the most of whom are in Malta are the Spanish and Italian tourists. As I said I was working as a waitress, I didn't mention it was a Spanish bar. So I think I could say I met 99% of these people. And why would they learn English if they speak Spanish/Italian? :D We used to have "some communication problems" and I started to hate them, but when they asked for my name and I said "it's Evangeline", they went crazy, started to clap and sing to me. Yeah :D So I just forgave :). But anyway I met people almost from every part of the world. They also wanted to know where I am from. I just started to play. I liked this game, I call it "guess", as I know I really don't look like typical Slovak or Hungarian. Nobody, really nobody figured it out. Here are the three most common answers:
1. Swedish
2. German
3. Russian
And at the end I was kinda proud of that. Too bad I don't speak none of these languages.
In conclusion I think I can declare I met (and talked to) more people during these two months than ever before in my life. Which I think is a big positivum. I had the opportunity to meet people from other countries, to improve my English with them (to talk and understand their accent) and of course to enjoy the life.
Sun, sea, ocean, beach, temperature are the most important parts of my happiness. I'm definitely a real "summer girl", what showes even my surname Summerplain (translated), the date of my birth (August) and my temperament.
At the very end of this article I just want to thank you to everyone who helped me to get there and to everyone who made my summer so f*cking awesome. I'm glad I met you JS, AL, TS, DM, JM, GK, AF, HSL, CS, AB, JSM, BB, DR, MN, VK, SW, HJB. And special thanks to my Maltese girls, who are the best partyfaces ever and the queens of the heels in Paceville LZC, DB, SCD and MB. Can't wait to see you again.
